According to “What is cyberbullying” by The Ophelia Project, it says, “10% of youth ages 11-18 have been both a victim and offender,”. First, cyberbullying is online bullying by someone calling you a disturbing or harmful name through comments and messages. The reason this occurs is that people choose their weakest victim and begin being hurtful to the victim in the situation. It can also be because the bully has nothing better to do than hurt someone. Additionally, The Ophelia Project claims in their fast facts that an average of 45% of teens or young people report witnessing cyberbullying happen on social media. Cyberbullying should be a crime because it could drive someone to commit suicide, kids don’t tell people what is going on, and Cyberbullying is more hurtful because of the Empathetic disconnect and the Infinite bystander effect.
