Short Summary of The History of Nail Polish

Have you ever wondered where your beautiful nail polish originated from or how it was used throughout history? Well, we are here to answer that. 

During the ancient civilizations of China, the upper class would paint their nails to distinguish themselves from the rest of the population. There are certain colors of nail polish that symbolize different things. One of the most popular colors to be worn was purple because it symbolized power and wealth. Any non-royal blood caught wearing nail polish would be executed. 

The nail polish began to spread across the world. In Egypt, it was way more common to see people wearing nail polish. 

During Roman times it was normal to be seen wearing nail polish. After that era, you wouldn’t see nail polish on Europeans due to not having access to material to create it. The resources that would have nail polish would be in India and the Middle East. During the Renaissance era, they gained a link to a trade to them that would allow Europeans to have gained access to nail polish.

 As time went on, France made it a common thing during the 18th century. When it hit the 19th century the boom of nail polish rose. France, England, Italy, and the United States started wearing it daily; However, in the 20th century, this is when it would become the most popular. Manicure establishments would soon be seen as commonplace to receive a pedicure or a manicure.
