Stanford University is a non-profit private school. It is located in Santa Clara, California which was founded in 1885 by Leland and Jane Stanford. The campus is around 8,000 acres, becoming part of the largest in the U.S. There are around 17,000 students that attend Stanford. There are different portions in Stanford University with seven schools: three consist of 40 academic departments, then four professional schools that focus on law, medicine, education, and business. There are around 36 sports, of which Stanford is part of the Division 1 Pac 12 conferences. Some statistics about their record in sports is they have won 128 NCAA team championships, awarded the NACDA directors cup for 25 years straight, and around 296 Olympic medals including 150 gold medals were from students that attended Stanford. There are about 20 libraries located at Stanford University that hold 9.5 million volumes. With around 18 institutions of interdisciplinary boundaries. As well as having 2,279 faculty members with around 200 graduate fields of study. One thing about Stanford that everyone knows is how highly competitive and hard the private school is to get accepted. The acceptance rate is about 5%, which is extremely low for a college to accept high school students. But the plus about Stanford is that it has about a 94% graduation rate, with the average cost after aid being 11,000 dollars. Proving why Stanford is ranked one of the best universities in the world. The average GPA is 3.96 or better to even be noticed by Stanford. If someone has a lower GPA another option would be having a high score of SAT/ACT. Some majors they offer: anthropology, architectural design, biology, bioengineering, chemistry, biomedical, communication, earth systems, English, feminist, gender and sexuality studies, French, human rights, mathematical and computational science, and so many more diverse majors. Show how Stanford is so famous for the great education that is outstanding for the future lives of students. It’s a great but competitive school so be ready to prove to the college how a great student you are in academics and socially.
