Short Movie Review: True Grit

True Grit is a story told by an older Mattie Ross as she remembers how she went on a quest to find justice for the murder of her father in 1873 when she was only fourteen years old. Mattie travels from her home in Arkansas and through the Oklahoma wilderness to find her father’s murderer with a United States Marshal, Rooster Cogburn, and a Texas Ranger named LaBoeuf.

I highly recommend this movie to people who are interested in western movies. It has a very engaging storyline and unique characters. The best part about it is that the main character is a girl, which may not seem like a lot, but this movie was made in 1969 when women had very little positive representation in the media. They could have made the same exact story with Mattie Ross as a boy, but the fact that they decided to make her a girl makes this movie stand out even more than it already did.
