This week is Kindness Week, which has already been filled with lots of love. As part of the committee myself who planned for this week, I am excited to see lots of others participate in the events going on around the school. For planning, we didn’t know where to start but we all started to brainstorm ideas. Then after that, we all presented our ideas and then from there got the ASB class’s opinion. Then we went ahead and ordered supplies. A few items we got were balloons, poster paper, and hearts.
After the supplies came in we started to assign people to jobs. Everybody in the ASB class was assigned hearts to make with students’ names on them. That was our easiest task to complete but it took a little longer to make sure all the names were there. We then moved on to making posters. Every 3 or 4 people were assigned to a few posters that are around campus. The first signs we made had the dress-up days, so students could be reminded without having to check social media. The next poster we made was very simple and just said Kindness Week. Another cool poster we made said “ Be the In in Kind” Then somebody had the cool idea to take out the I in the word Kind so people could stand there and take a picture with it if they wanted. Another fun activity we got ready for was passing out clips with affirmations on them. Such a small thing, that I believe makes a huge difference. That’s what has been really important to me for Kindness Week. Especially after the pandemic, it’s important to realize that you never know what someone is going through, so it’s always important to be kind. (Picture from today’s lunch activity of rock painting)
