Vicente Fernandez was a big idol to the Hispanic community. He was in movies but his big contribe is his music. He has nicknames such as “Chente” short for Vicente, “El idolo de Mexico,” the idol of Mexico, and “El Rey de musica ranchera,” ranchera music is a type of Spanish music and “Rey” means king so technically “The king of Spanish music.” Vicente Fernandez died on December 12, 2021, at the age of 81 after he sustained a spinal injury in a fall on his ranch in Jalisco, Mexico. Vicente’s ranch was open to the public and still is, with him buried on the property the public can go and pay their respects. Here at the Fox Theater in downtown Visalia, they will be having a tribute to him on March 5, 2022. The doors open at 7:00 but the show starts at 8:00. The tickets will be around $35-$40.
