Zoey the dog had been missing for so long, the company that manufactures her microchip had listed her as “deceased.”
The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a stray dog that had been dropped off on a rural property just outside Stockton, California, on Feb. 10. According to the sheriff’s office, Animal Service Officer Brandon Levin retrieved Zoey, who was reportedly old and unwell.
After being scanned, the dog’s name had been revealed to be Zoey and said to have gone missing from Lafayette, California, in 2010. After the officers were able to determine that the owner of Zoey, Michelle, had kept the same number for over a decade, Michelle and Zoey got to be reunited, though it’s unclear when they did.
