She didn’t say no out of spite this time.
She didn’t cry at the party she had been dreading for weeks.
She made friends instead of enemies, for once.
She let the past die.
She chose to forgive, even though an apology was never presented to her.
Her loneliness was starting to seem more temporary, rather than permanent.
She chose to plant flowers instead of digging graves.
She didn’t let their cold-blooded comments define her.
But most importantly, she was rising to her full potential, rather than shrinking away from it.
