The popular app, TikTok, has skyrocketed in recent years becoming extremely popular for teens and even at younger ages. The app is essentially millions of short videos about 15 to 60 seconds long created by anyone and everyone from all over the world shared with the public. This social media network has created a way for people to share likes and common interests that in later years would have never been possible. Note the way the app was designed so that when something is searched up or liked, the app is able to find similar topics so that the things that you are seeing have been customized to your interests and what the app believes you would enjoy.
The type of videos/clips someone may see on TikTok range from dance videos to popular songs, funny videos, storytimes, pranks, and people doing ridiculous things in public. TikTok has created many trends that are now being tempted on a daily basis by kids which has created many problems for schools. One of these trends that were going around causing problems in schools was the trend called “devious licks” which was students stealing something from their school like a soap dispenser, toilet paper, mirrors, or just anything that they could possibly take. Not all trends on the app are this cruel though, most trends are light-hearted and just people creating dance moves and posting funny videos in an attempt to become famous. Most of the trends on TikTok last about a month at most, nearly all have died out sooner because they are unable to stay popular longer than a month since the app is constantly changing and creating new trends every day.
