JC Marquez is already making history at El Diamante in his first year of teaching here by forming El Diamante’s first Esports team. Miner Esports is already doing phenomenal in its first year competing. This season’s team just came off a winning streak after losing a close match against a San Diego school. El Diamante is now ranked 21 out of 222 schools in California. El Diamante’s Esports team plays a number of games including Rocket League, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Smash Ultimate, and Splatoon 2. Marquez is currently planning on adding more games that could earn kids full-ride scholarships to college, like League of Legends and Overwatch. There is also talk of starting an Esports rivalry against Mt. Whitney. You can stay up to date with all that is going on with Miner Esports @edhs_esports on Instagram.
