RHCP Walk of Fame

On March 31, 2022, I got to see the infamous rock band from the ’80s, Red Hot Chili Peppers,  honored to have the 2,717th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Because my dad’s a RHCP super fan, he took my family to Los Angeles to witness this once-in-a-lifetime occasion. Here’s how the event went.

We arrived in front of Amoeba Music, where the event was to take place, at around 7:30 a.m,  and it was supposed to start at 11:30 a.m. With four hours remaining, we had nothing else to do but stand in a small crowd of people, watching officers and supervisors put the stage together for the event. Over time, the small crowd turned into a crowd of over 5,000 people. The streets of Hollywood were temporarily closed, as people broke through the barricades and ran into the street. Officers say this has never really happened before during an event like this.

Someone I did not expect to see there was former president, Bill Clinton, who stated to reporters “I always knew they were going to be the most successful group in the world. … They had that fire in their eyes.” Woody Harrelson, a famous actor, also attended the event, sharing his thoughts on the band as well: “These guys really are amazing people and they really care. And on top of all that, they were the first to really make the common ordinary sock a central part of the fashion wardrobe.”

Overall, this whole event was a little unprofessional to be honest, as some of the people in charge seemed a little disrespectful to fans who only wanted to see the famous band. However, this was definitely a long-awaited event, and I am happy I got to be there.
