Rating Met Gala Outfits

It seems as if the Met Gala has not lived up to its fame and fortune. The outfits were horrendous, except for a slim few who actually knew the theme- Gilded Glamor-. Let’s first look at 2 outfits that definitely did not match the theme, and then move on to a strong finish of 2 outfits that embodied this theme.

Number 1- Olivia Rodrigo in Versace

Let me start by saying that this outfit is stunning. Stunning. However, this outfit does not fit the theme of gilded glamor; this outfit matched our prom theme of enchanted forest. Olivia Rodrigo is giving an enchanted fairy type of vibe with the butterflies, her makeup, and the gloves. This does not give gilded glamor which, let me remind you, the term refers to the period of roaring ’20s; it even refers to the royal dynasty. This outfit is the beginning of a theme of misconception about a prom look.

Number 2- Kylie Jenner in Off-White

Although the sentiment behind Kylie’s outfit is admirable, this outfit is just not it. This is a hillbilly, 2am Las Vegas wedding dress with a backward hat and a veil. The dress might have been average-looking if it wasn’t a T-shirt.

Number 3- Cardi B in Versace

Cardi B looks mesmerizing and this outfit is ATE. Gold is an indicator of glamor so to have an all-gold outfit really showcases the wealth and richness of this theme. Her matching gloves and choker bring a powerful essence to an already powerful dress. She looks beautiful and on the theme, a double threat.

Number 4- Blake Lively in Versace

Blake’s outfit is definitely one of the top 5 outfits seen at the Met Gala. She began with an all bronze dress and transformed it into a teal and semi-bronze dress. This symbolizes the evolution of the Statue of Liberty AND matches the Met Gala carpet. Blake checked off all of the boxes and exceeded our expectations yet again.
