Preseason and league season is over for track & field within the Central Valley. As we exit this portion of the season, we enter the championship season. With the introduction of the championship season, comes forth the toughest and hardest working athletes around Central California. All of these athletes have worked their absolute hardest to obtain the top times and marks within the Valley. This year’s CIF Division 2 Championships take place at Groppetti Community Stadium located at Golden West High School in Visalia, California. This is a huge deal for the City of Visalia and the Visalia Unified School District considering that a CIF Track and Field Championship hasn’t been hosted here for years. This year features 27 of the top teams within the Central Valley including Visalia’s very own El Diamante, Golden West, and Mt Whitney High Schools. El Diamante High School has a huge shot at taking the meet and obtaining a Valley plaque this year. If you are an El Diamante student and plan on attending, the meet starts at 4:00pm Friday evening.
