Hayden Panettiere will return to the Scream franchise as Kirby Lee after being last seen in Scream 4. Deadline had reported that she will reprise her role as Kirby Lee. This film will mark Panettiere’s first movie role in eight years. Shooting will begin this summer. Panettiere had last appeared on television in the series Nashville. The new Scream film will start with four of Ghostface’s survivors, that will include Kirby Lee, attempting to leave Woodsboro and start new chapters in their life. Also returning from Scream 5 are Jasmin Savoy Brown, Jenna Ortega, Melissa Berrera, and Mason Gooding. Although Ghostface veterans Gale Weathers, Sidney Prescott, and Dewey Riley return for Scream 5 it is still not confirmed if they will return.
