The Universal in Orlando, FL has permanently shut down Monsters Cafe. Today the theme park had stated that the dining location will now be closed after more than 20 years. A spokesperson from Universal Orlando has stated, “Monster’s Cafe has closed to make way for a new dining experience. More details will be shared at a later time – stay tuned to our website for updates.” Although since announcing this they have not said what will be the replacement. The restaurant first opened back in 1998. The restaurant served BBQ, ribs, and rotisserie chicken platters, among other dishes. This spot was unique for the horror fans because they got to dine and see scenes and memorable things that pay tribute to Universal’s classic monsters Dr. Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, Dracula, and The Creature From the Black Lagoon. This restaurant itself was a revamp of a former Studio Stars restaurant that had featured memorabilia from Hollywood’s golden age. This follows another number of closures at Universal. Along with it last fall they closed Fear Factor Live and then earlier this year had closed the long-running Shrek 4-D attraction.
