Starting in January, I’ve kept a list of every single book I’ve read. So far I’ve read 53 books and have plenty of book recs!

I have plenty of romance recs but I also have some I recommend avoiding. I personally found Colleen Hoover’s books not to be amazing reads, as I feel they lack serious character development and are very overhyped. The Love & Olives series is a cute, lighthearted romance trilogy that takes place in various European countries. Jenny Han’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy has my heart and is such an enjoyable read. The Netflix movies do a very good job of staying true to the books, but I recommend reading the series before you watch the movies!

I don’t read many historical fiction books, but my favorite one by far is Girl in the Blue Coat. My sophomore English teacher recommended this book to me and it did not disappoint. This book takes place in World War II era Amsterdam and has an engaging storyline filled with mystery.

Thanks to TikTok, mystery and thriller books are getting more recommendations and acknowledgment. A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is a very popular book, and I was not disappointed. It is definitely a page-turner, and I found myself trying to solve the cold case along with the main characters. A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is a trilogy and the books get better and better. I also read One of Us is Lying, another TikTok favorite, and I loved it. The author switches perspectives as the mystery is being solved, which really engages the reader. There is also a sequel, One of Us is Next, and it is just as good! I stumbled upon this next book while on vacation, and it’s a lesser-known title: Finlay Donovan is Killing It. If you love rom-coms, this book is definitely for you. The plot follows a single mom who finds herself hilariously entangled with the Russian mob, all while trying to work things out with her ex-husband. My final recommendation is the Inheritance Games series. This is a rags-to-riches type of story, but the author adds a grieving, wealthy family with years of dark secrets.
