The once Media Arts academy is now the CTVA or Cinema and Television Arts. Along with the rename of the academy, they also received a new lead, Mrs. Hebert, She’s a graduate of EDHS. Although she’s been teaching for seven years, she didn’t start out as a teacher. She started her career in the film industry as a freelance editor for a company based in Los Angeles called Firestone. Being an editor she loves the technical side of the industry, although she loved her busy job in the city she felt like she wasn’t making enough of a difference. Always knowing she wanted to teach most specifically film, she moved from Los Angeles to Visalia. In 2016 she started teaching video and photography classes at El D. She has now been teaching for seven years and loves every part of it. Teaching freshmen through seniors in different classes such as Intro to Video, Advanced Film, Advanced Cinematic Arts, and used to teach Broadcasting, now turned over to Mr. Fox. Mrs. Hebert’s job sounds like a lot of fun, but it comes with its challenges. One of them is Ed Hews, a broadcasted show at El Diamante that has been running for over 18 years. Another challenge being a video teacher brings is having to master all key elements of the film. But even though it’s difficult she says that her job is the best. She’s always had big dreams and goals for the academy, and it was difficult to not go to the meetings and share her ideas. Although she was afraid to take the new lead offer, she wanted to make her big ideas a reality.

She’s ambitious with big goals, but it’s her family of dreamers that keeps her going. She has two kids, a daughter who is three and a son who is two. Her husband Mr, Hebert is also a teacher on campus. Being high school sweethearts, Mrs. Hebert says that her husband is truly her soulmate and loves enjoying the life she’s built. Even though life outside of her family can be chaotic, she’s proud of the little family she’s built. Being the Video teacher on campus she’s a big fan of documentary or mockumentary films. Her all-time favorite movie is currently Everything Everywhere All at Once. She says it’s all she wants in a movie. After being an assistant editor for shows like Keeping up with the Kardashians, she loves reality TV, especially Big Brother. Some of her other current watches include Euphoria and Severance. When asked what she wanted to share with the school she said “CTVA is amazing for anybody who has the smallest interest in the film” and she encourages any student to come and join the CTVA.
