The Summer I Turned Pretty Review

The Summer I Turned Pretty was a new, hit TV show released this past summer, streaming on Prime Video. The hit TV show was based on the trilogy, The Summer I Turned Pretty, written and produced by Jenny Han. Having read the trilogy, and watching the first season, there are several major factors in which the two are different. First off, Steven’s role in the TV show is much bigger than it ever was in the books. For the first book, Steven was only there for about a month at the summer house because he left to go take college tours with his dad. So for a big majority of the summer, it was just Belly and the Fisher brothers. Another inconsistency between the books and the TV show was the love triangle between Belly and the Fisher brothers. Throughout most of the first book, she chased after Cameron or Conrad. There was a chapter where Jeremiah expressed his feelings toward Belly, but Belly expressed she didn’t feel the same way. Although Belly did make note that she never really considered Jeremiah because Conrad was always in the way. The love triangle between Belly and the Fisher brothers is mainly featured during We Will Always Have Summer, the third book. But as always with every book turning into a film, there will be differences.
