The Truman Show Movie Review

The Truman Show was released in 1998 and Is one of the best movies I have ever seen in my entire life. This movie stars Jim Carrey playing the main character “Truman Burbank” and his life is being secretly recorded into a TV show where people can watch him eat, sleep, go to work, come home, get married, etc. Everything around Truman is fake, the sky, the sun, even his parents and best friend, and even his own wife. This psychological film is one of the most thrilling movies as it drops little hints throughout the movie about the truth. Even when rewatching this movie it still keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens as Truman slowly figures out the truth due to secret film sets in offices, lights falling from the sky, and weird radio calls that all lead to his life being on a TV show. This movie is really good and I am highly grateful I got to watch this movie in Film Studies. This is one of Jim Carrey’s more serious movies but it was some of Jim Carrey’s best iconic scenes. One of my personal favorites is when he exits his house for the first time and says the famous line “and in case I don’t see you, good afternoon, good evening, and goodnight”.

Overall I would give this movie a 10/10.
