On the 18th of September 2022, game developer Rockstar Games experienced a data leak. Which gameplay of the long-awaited follow-up to the 3rd best-selling video game of all time Grand Theft Auto V has leaked. In the gameplay, we see 2 protagonists, one being male and another female, which is a series first. Long-time fans of the series will be excited to learn that the sixth entry makes a return to Vice City (Grand Theft Auto’s version of Florida) for the first time since 2006. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the series, no other details can be shared as this is being published in a school newspaper.
In a tweet, a reporter for Bloomberg, Jason Schreier, confirms the leak’s legitimacy. He states
“Not that there was much doubt, but I’ve confirmed with Rockstar sources that this weekend’s massive Grand Theft Auto VI leak is indeed real. The footage is early and unfinished, of course. This is one of the biggest leaks in video game history and a nightmare for Rockstar Games.”
Nobody officially at Rockstar Games or their publisher Take-Two Interactive has yet to comment on the leaks.
