The Creation of Adam (La creazione di Adamo in Italian) is a Fresco (mural) painting by the Italian artist Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, known as just Michelangelo. It was made from 1508-1512 on the Sistine Chapel’s ceiling. It is meant to illustrate the biblical narration of God creating Adam. There are many things in this painting that represent different things. The narration of the piece is from the Book of Genesis, which is separated into three different parts. God’s Creation of the Earth; God’s Creation of Humankind and their fall from God’s grace; and lastly, the state of Humanity as represented by Noah and his family.
