Why Do We Even Have Daylight Saving Time?

Although a majority of us know about the act of going back or forward an hour through the year, most of us don’t even know why we do this.

Well, the explanation is simple: it gives us an extra hour of daylight and more leisure time to do activities we couldn’t previously do if we didn’t have a time change. This act also allows us to save energy that we would need to use.

So this is why every year in the spring, we move our clocks forward an hour. While in the fall, we set our clocks back one hour. This is so we can “fall back” and gain an extra hour.

This year, we fall back on Sunday, November 6th. So set your calendars and be ready!

Although this may seem like a simple, unnecessary task, it actually allows us to spend more time with those around us, and for longer, fuller days.
