In honor of the upcoming holiday, known as Veterans Day, this week on Friday there will be no school. If you don’t have a good idea of what Veterans Day is below is a brief description of it.

Veterans Day is a federal holiday that is celebrated every year on November 11th that marks the celebration and honoring of military veterans who were a part of the United States Armed Forces. It was originally known as Armistice Day but was later changed to Veterans Day in 1954 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. It was created by World War II veteran Raymond Weeks and was first celebrated in Birmingham, Alabama on November 11, 1919—though at this time it was known as Armistice Day—which marked the first anniversary of the end of World War II.
