Heartstopper, I’m sure you’ve heard or seen the Netflix show released this year but the show was actually based on a book series.

Heartstopper by Alice Oseman was released in February 2019. The series follows Charlie and Nick who attend a British all-boys grammar school. Their friendship grows quickly and eventually develops into something more.

I loved this book, over the last few months I’ve heard people talk about Heartstopper and how great it was. So when browsing books at the Library I found the first book and I had to check it out. I pushed the rest of my reading list to the side and dove in. I finished the entire book in about a day. It is a graphic novel,  but it was truly a book I refused to put down. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I found myself relating a lot to their story. The challenges of coming out, and people using you really hit close to home. Not only that Charlie and Nick are,y new comfort characters their personalities and friendship blossoms beautifully throughout the book and it doesn’t feel rushed at all.

The art and illustrations in this book are lovely. It’s simple with little to no colors and it really adds a soft sweet love to it. It adds to the tone making it very playful.

Overall I would give this book five stars it’s simple, cute, and definitely a new favorite.
