40 minutes. 40 minutes is the amount of time students receive to go get food, eat, and come back and be ready for the last class of the day. That’s not including the line of cars to get out of the parking lot. Students are told in high school to attend class, to not skip class, and to not be late, yet this is not enough time for students to eat food for lunch that will supply us with enough nutrients for students to sit in class and focus. Once the school bell rings, for many students, the day is not over. Many students have extracurricular activities that they need healthy and nutritious food to keep them going. With a short lunch period, students are often rushing during their lunch to get back to school, and eat before the bell rings, while still trying to not be late. Students need a longer lunch period, and this is a change that needs to happen now.
