Jamie Cyrus Stewart is a Musician that originated from Los Angeles, CA, and has worked with several bands but he is most well known for his vocalist role in the band “Xiu Xiu” that he has been in since the early 2000s. Jamie Stewart is one of the most powerful musicians I have come across recently and he and his role in Xiu Xiu have been quite some of the most impactful music I have ever heard, I can’t say it’s rather a music to enjoy but more music to dive in deeper too in order to learn the deeper meaning. Xiu Xiu does not make enjoyable music, there are harsh instrumentals with very emotional and impacting vocals delivered by Jamie himself. Xiu Xiu is a very impactful and emotionally motivated band but that is what makes the music they produce so unique and interesting.
The reason why I wanted to focus so much on Jamie Stewart is that no music artist I have ever listened to has given me so many goosebumps. Jamie Stewart is a very impactful singer with his lyricism and vocals being soft but ruthless at the same time, and whatever you think he makes his music sound like it definitely isn’t what it actually sounds like. Jamie Stewart is a very emotionally driven person when it comes to the work he has done in Xiu Xiu but as a Singer himself, He can make an entire room full of people’s hearts just sink into the floor and the power of his voice even though he isn’t necessarily a loud singer can still just have this much emotion to the audience.
Jamie Stewart is an amazing singer and songwriter but this is all because most of the music he creates has defining and heartbreaking themes alongside them. Jamie Stewart is very emotionally driven by his father’s passing, his father is Micheal Gassen Stewart who was a co-founder of a band and a Grammy nominee. Jamie’s father’s death really impacted him and the messages Jamies sends in his music are so heartbreaking. An example of these impactful meanings Jamie shows in his music is Xiu Xiu’s second studio album “A Promise” which is Jamie making a promise to his mother to not pass away in the way his father did back in 2002. These emotional meanings really can make Jamies lyrics and his role as a vocalist really heart-shattering.
Some examples of Jamie’s being an amazing singer and songwriter are songs like “Don Diasco, Hives Hives, Tonite and Today, Sad pony Guerilla Girl, Walnut House” and just so much more. Jamie Stewart is probably the most impactful singer I have come across and just hearing his music is actually heartbreaking but very impactful. Musicians like Jamie Stewart inspire me to dive deeper into music as a form of media and how Music can be pushed to so many limits that don’t seem humanly possible. It’s just interesting to see how far music can be pushed and what ways these singers like Jamie Stewart create themes and express themselves in music.
