Between the Lines – A Book Review

This week I’ll be covering the infamous Twilight saga. Glittering vampires, bad boy werewolves, and an awkward teen moving to a new town. Simple really. Twilight was originally released in 2005 by Stephenie Meyer. Following the successful release of the first book, Meyer went on to release seven more books in the series, that later became full-feature films.

I started reading the first book during the covid lockdown to pass some time. My mom loved the books and had the complete series, so I decided to give them a read. And well…I hated them. Hate is a strong word but in the case of my strong option of the series well go with it.

As to why I didn’t like it, the dialogue was really rough and didn’t feel natural. It sounded scripted and fake overall. Not only that, it was just really cheesy or cringy. There was no character development, and all the characters had little to no personality. The chemistry Between Bella and Edward feels fake and idiotic.

Even though Twilight has a pretty big fanbase and an overall successful franchise it still doesn’t justify the poor story.
