Depression Among Teens

By JORDAN FARHANG

Depression is a serious mental health issue that affects people of all ages, including teenagers. According to the World Health Organization, depression is one of the leading causes of disability worldwide. Adolescents are particularly vulnerable to depression due to the many changes and challenges they face during this stage of life. Symptoms of depression in teens may include changes in appetite and sleep patterns, difficulty concentrating, feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, and a lack of interest in previously enjoyed activities. If left untreated, depression can lead to serious problems such as substance abuse, academic difficulties, and even suicide. It is important for parents, teachers, and healthcare professionals to be aware of the signs of depression and to seek appropriate treatment for affected teenagers.
