“Pulse Demon” Album Review

On May 28, 1996, Japanese musician “Merzbow” released his most popular album to date titled Pulse Demon. This album is a classic jazz album with smoothing instruments that make it sound even better like you’re actually at a jazz concert. Merzbow has explored many genres of music but I believe the jazz element that Pulse Demon has makes it his best work to this day. Pulse Demon is a very abstract record and the drumming on this record makes it a lot better. Merzbow’s mastery of his instruments makes this record a handful to listen to but a good experience nonetheless. Pulse Demon isn’t just a jazz album but an experimental album as well and it takes a while to understand the meaning of this record but when you do it becomes a lot better. Merzbow is a really talented artist with over 102 albums and I can’t wait to see what he does next. The acoustics on this record were really good as well and Merzbow’s lyricism is some of the best I’ve heard.

Overall, I would give Pulse Demon by Merzbow a  1.89/10, I believe it was a little too loud for a jazz album but otherwise it was pretty good.
