Former Daft Punk Artist Thomas Bangalter Announces a Solo Project

Popular house/party music artists Daft Punk broke up back in 2021. After their most recent album back in 2013 won album of the year, fans were met with mostly silence from the robotic duo aside from collaborations; most notably being a couple songs with N.E.R.D, Kanye West, and The Weeknd. Towards the beginning of 2021, Daft Punk uploaded a video to their Youtube channel announcing their departure from the music industry. While fans were upset, many others speculated the reasoning behind this decision and whether or not they’d continue to create music individually.

A couple days ago, that question was answered. Thomas Bangalter, one of the two members of Daft Punk, took to Instagram to announce that he’ll soon be releasing an album of his own. “Mythologies” is set to be released sometime in April. So, does this mean that his music will maintain sounds similar to what can be heard in songs created with Daft Punk? Definitely not. Mythologies is going to be an orchestral album, which means that there will be little to no space to include the funky beats Daft Punk was most known for. However, we’ll have to see what exactly Bangalter has in store for us once the album is released. It’s safe to say that Daft Punk is permanently disbanded, but it’s still nice to see them pursue music.
