Between the Lines – A Grammy Review

Last night was the 65th Grammys, an award showcase where different artists of varying genres. An exciting night filled with unexpected awards and records being broken.

When it comes to the album of the year many artists hope and dream of achieving such a title. This year the golden artist was none other than Harry Styles for his album Harry’s house. The artist already won a grammy for pop artist of the year. An outstanding achievement in any artist’s career, but many were overall surprised at this achievement.

Many claim that the Grammy should have gone to Beyonce for her album Renaissance.  Fans were outraged with Harry’s winning, bashing him online for his award and the speech he made after receiving the grammy. Someone even shouted that Beyonce should’ve won in the middle of his speech. Another reason people are outraged is in Harry’s speech he says “this doesn’t happen to people like me very often.” Many took this quote out of proportion calling him out on how he is a white British man having a legacy to work from.

Here’s my take on the situation going solely my opinion. Harry Styles deserved to win in every way. Here’s why out of all the artists he has been pushing his music publicly the most. His Love on tour has been a running tour for over a year breaking records nationwide. His album sold millions of records, and being relevant on social media gives him the upper hand when it comes to overall popularity. As for his speech, I think it was taken out of context. Harry Styles grew up in England and auditioned for the XFactor at the age of sixteen all because his mom thought he had a good voice. After his One Direction days he sensed the world and built a new name for himself, he is now the most successful out of the five band members.

But what do you think? Who should have won Album of the year?
