In Corona, California, a man allegedly punched three players during a girls’ basketball game, and then pulled a gun on other students. Police have reported that the man that pulled the gun out has been arrested. His name is Thaddis Brooks, 39 and he was arrested Thursday in connection to the confrontation occurring on January 24th during the game at Centennial High School. It was a girls’ basketball game against Santigo high school, witnesses announced that two students from the teams got into a fight on the court when Brooks was watching the game related to one player leaving the stands going onto the court, and injured the girl’s ages 16/17. After the fight happened he was restrained and left the gym but went to the parking lot and got a handgun from his car, and pointed it at some female students ages 13 to 17 threatening to shoot them but fled before police arrived. They searched his home, not finding any guns. Brooks was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats brandishing a deadly weapon, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possessing a firearm on school grounds, and child abuse. He remained in jail Saturday on $350,000 bail, it was not clear whether he had an attorney to speak on his behalf. Court records show Brooks has a criminal record dating back decades and includes guilty pleas to drug possession, battery, and criminal threats. Be safe while attending extracurriculars!
