On Friday, February 3rd, following the “Around The World” themed Winter Rally, our school held a Culture Fair, a highly anticipated event that was held during lunch.
Culture Fair is a Club-Rush-style event that aims at increasing awareness of different ethnicities and promoting inclusivity amongst students. Around 70 presenters (which included members of clubs to invited guests, to exchange students) were seen showcasing a variety of traditional attributes and items related to their culture, such as souvenirs, clothing, food, and flags. Overall it was an amazing opportunity to share your ethnic background and express love for your heritage.
Authors note: We also had the chance to invite exchange students from Redwood HS- Anastasia Tkachuk (Ukraine) and Elisabed Verdzadze (Georgia) – to participate, which they happily agreed to do. They told us how they absolutely adored the event and shared their will to come back for another fair like this. EDHS Exchange students – Aruzhan Akhmadieva (Kazakhstan), Erkin Esengeldiev (Kyrgyzstan), and Roepesh Sohan (Suriname) – had an amazing time being on the performing side as well as on the side of helping organize the event.
