A tiny California mouse has won the Guinness award for longevity. The mouse that won this award for longevity was Pat, named after Patrick Stewart. He received this award on Wednesday for living over 200 days under human care. Pat was born in the San Diego Zoo on July 14, 2013. The Pacific Pocket Mouse can weigh up to 3 pennies and is the smallest species of mouse in North America. The species gets its name from its cheek pouches that it uses to carry food and nesting material. These mice could be found from Los Angeles to the Tijuana River Valley but the population has depreciated since 1932 due to human encroachment and habitat destruction.

Needless to say, this mouse is an interesting character not only because he’s a mouse but he’s a mouse with a Guinness award which is something many humans can’t say for themselves but hey you can say you know a mouse that has a Guinness world record.
