In honor of Black History Month, I’d like to inform you of who Rosa Parks was. Rosa Parks was an African American woman who lived through a period of racial segregation. One day, when a white man could not find somewhere to sit, she and three others were asked to give up their seats on the bus. The three others obeyed, but she refused. Eventually, the bus driver called the cops leading up to her arrest. By doing this, she initiated the start of the Civil Rights Movement, a struggle for justice and equality for African Americans. Even though Parks was released that same night, it is critical to understand the true meaning of what she did. She inspired so many leaders and people all over the world before her death in 2005. Parks made quite a difference before she passed, and in honor of that, many will continue to remember her for a very long time.
