Tropical Cyclone Freddy dumped “Dangerous” and “Exceptional rainfall levels” over Mozambique on Friday. It continued to wreak havoc across South Africa. Freddy made landfall in the coastal town of Vilanculos with wind speeds up to 70 miles. It is now classified as an “Intense tropical cyclone” after picking up speed over the Mozambique channel.

The cyclone is supposed to weaken as it barrels through South Africa but still poses risks from the heavy rainfall it can bring to neighboring nations of Zimbabwe, South Africa, and many more.

Anne-Claire, A tropical cyclone scientist at the U.N weather system said that Mozambique is already reeling from the flood. The cyclone will most likely compound an already volatile situation.
