A shooting left two people injured on Friday night in Orange Cove. According to the Orange Cove Police Department, the shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. near 10th and J Streets. When officers arrived, the two victims were found with gunshot wounds. They were taken to the hospital, where their conditions were unknown. One of the teens was shot in the head. After a few hours, deputies identified one of the victims as Ruben Velazquez 18 years old from Orange Cove. The other victim was a 17-year-old inside the car when deputies arrived. The 17-year-old remains hospitalized and is listed in critical condition, authorities say. Detectives are working to identify the suspect and vehicle involved. Deputies say this is possibly a gang-related shooting. Over 4 teens have died in this town in the past year. Gang violence has also been a big problem in not only Orange Cove but many different places.
