On March 20th a student was killed and another was injured at Lamar High School in Arlington, Texas. A suspect is now in custody…. I decided to write about this because the United States has totaled 67 mass shootings so far this year. A mass shooting is when 4 or more victims are shot or killed. Here are a few more mass shootings that have happened this year in different parts of the United States.
Michigan State University
- 3 people died and 5 others injured
- Happened February 13th, 2023(East campus)
- The suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot.
Half Moon Bay, California
- 8 people were killed, and many others injured
- Happened in two different locations
- The suspect was a 67-year-old
Monterey Park, California
- 11 people were killed & 10 others injured
- A 72-year-old opened fire in a dance studio on January 21, 2023
- The suspect was shot self-indicated.
- This mass shooting began leaving ongoing fears among Asian Americans following a rise of anti-Asian racism and violence.
There is much more than just these. The big point I’m trying to point out is that there are many debates out there where instead of building more bulletproof buildings, classrooms, doors, etc. People are debating on how they should change gun laws.
