Books For Every TS Era: Part Two

By CALLIE WATSON

Staff Writer

This is the second and final part of books that remind me of the Taylor Swift era! There are potential book spoilers, so beware!

Lover: Love From Scratch

  • This enemies to lovers to friends to more than friends to enemies to lovers gives “Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince ” vibes. Reese is definitely a “Daylight,” “Afterglow” girl when it comes to her rival intern and has the independence of the “The Man.” Benny is a lovable golden retriever, making him the Italian version of “London Boy.” The rivalry between the two eventually turns to flirting, very much leading to an “It’s Nice To Have A Friend,” “Lover” love in the end.

folklore: We’ll Always Have Summer

  • I know I already mentioned the TSITP series earlier, but Jeremiah, Conrad, and Belly literally are the folklore love triangle. Jeremiah is “August,” Conrad pulls a “Betty,” and Belly is a “cardigan” girl. Belly embodies “the last great American dynasty” every time she wreaks havoc in Cousins and definitely goes through a “my tears ricochet” phase. Conrad for sure listens to “The 1” and “Exile” while Belly dates Jer. Jer has a fair share of “illicit affairs” and probably also sobs to “the 1” every once in a while. Conrad and Belly will forever be the “invisible string” couple in my book.

evermore: The Red Queen Series

  • I haven’t finished this series yet, but I can tell you that it is very much evermore (with a dash of reputation). Mare is a “gold rush” girl when it comes to Cal, and together they’re “Cowboy like me.” Mare’s (love) life is “long story short” and she went through a “right where you left me” phase. Maven probably spends his nights screaming “champagne problems,” “tolerate it,” and “coney island.” This book has the same tragic heartbreak and intense love that Evermore does.

Midnights: Shatter Me Series

  • I may be going out on a limb with this one, but hear me out. This dystopian masterpiece of a series follows the same plot line as the Shatter Me series. I’m talking about Juliette’s iconic “Vigilante Sh*t” character arc, topped off with “Bejeweled” confidence. Aaron Warner is a “Mastermind,” who’s really just a “Sweet Nothing,” “Paris” softie for Juliettes. There is a little “High Infidelity” in more ways than one and a “Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve” type of revenge.
