Verity is a thriller romance by Colleen Hoover. The story follows Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer from New York who receives a job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, the husband to best-selling author Verity Crawford, hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish.
After arriving at the Crawford house Lowen comes across an unfinished and disturbing autobiography by Verity. Including chilling and disturbing stories including what happened the day her daughter died. As Lowen’s feelings for Jearmey grow she decides to keep Verities’ biography hidden from Jearmey. With stories this horrifying it would make it impossible for him to love his wife.
This is the first book by Colleen Hoover that I’ve read, and she is a genius when it comes to writing. This book is not for the faint of heart. Discussing topics like abortion, death, suicide, and other disturbing topics in ornate detail. But in my opinion, I think that’s what makes the story a page-turner, once you think what the worst that can happen, it gets worse! In the beginning, I thought I had the ending figured out. But in the last two chapters, Hoover throws a curveball that makes you question the entire book and story of who’s the victim or the villain.
In short, this book is messed up. When I say thriller this is what I think of now. So if you are a fan of thrillers and want a bone-chilling story that makes you question everything you just read by the end then I would highly recommend this book.
