An early morning fire destroyed part of a large high school in the southern Idaho city of Pocatello on Friday. No one was hurt in the fire, but it did completely destroy one wing of the high school. They had the cafeteria, gymnasium, choir room, and band room. It suffered heavy structural damage and a collapsed roof. It is not yet clear how much smoke and water damage occurred to the rest of the school, but there was “significant water on the floor surface” the district said.

The fire was reported just before 4 a.m. and when firefighters arrived, they could see flames showing above the building amid heavy snowfall. School is canceled until Tuesday and they would be switching to remote learning until in-person classes can resume.
