Pop star The Weeknd changed his social media name on Monday to Abel Tesfaye, his birth name. 33-year-old Abel says in an interview he’s “ Preparing to reinvent himself as a musician”. He told the magazine “ I’m going through a cathartic path right now”. “ I’m going to a place and a time where I’m getting ready to close the Weeknd chapter. “Maybe I’ll make music as Abel, maybe The Weeknd, but I still want to kill the Weeknd. And I will. Eventually. I’m definitely trying to shed that skin and be reborn. Abel says the album he is currently working on might be his last as “ The Weeknd”. He says “This is something that needs to be done. Tesfaye’s team said that there will be no comment on the social media name change
