“ I was really excited to come here because it’s in my neighborhood and one day my own kids would come here and so I thought it would be cool to teach in a school that I am really interested in because it’s part of my family and my life nearby.”
Rebecca Crawford is a new teacher at El Diamante High School and has been teaching for 20 years. She taught at Tulare Western for 10 years and nine years at Visalia Charter Independent Study (VCIS). Crawford teaches English and an English Language Development (ELD) support class here at El Diamante. She attended college at Westmont University in Santa Barbara.
“I taught for 10 years at Tulare Western and nine years at VCIS. I taught English at every level– freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, ELD and I taught students one on one at VCIS,” Crawford stated.
When asked what her favorite thing about El Diamante was she exclaimed, “I enjoy the staff and the school spirit held at this school.”
Her favorite part about teaching is, “helping students grow with their reading and writing and seeing them become confident.” If Crawford could give students one piece of advice she would tell them to remember that their teachers are here to support them and to always try their best.
