As more and more chicken fast food places pop up in town, students continue to debate over which is the best. There is Dave’s Hot Chicken, which was just opened in Visalia, Angry Chicks, Cane’s, and the famous Chick-fil-A, which unfortunately we do not have in Visalia.
The simplest chicken place is Cane’s. Their menu consists of chicken strips, fries, and their special sauce. A four-finger combo box averages around $12 and comes with a drink and fries. They don’t have ranch which is a negative, but they do have ketchup. Cane’s does have a chicken sandwich, but their most popular ordered item is the chicken strip combo with bread and coleslaw.
At Dave’s Hot Chicken, their menu is also very simple. They have chicken sandwiches and strips as well. They also have a special sauce and they also sell two types of fries: cheese fries and regular fries. Not only that, but they have mac and cheese and coleslaw too. They have strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla shakes along with M&M and Oreo-loaded milkshakes as well. Their price for a chicken sandwich with fries comes out to around $12.99.
Chick-fil-A has the biggest menu. Their menu ranges from breakfast to dinner items Their meals usually include chicken in some way or another. Chick-fil-A also has coffee and milkshakes. Their most popular lunch and dinner item is the chicken sandwich combo, which comes with waffle fries and a drink. This combo averages around $10. They also have their own special sauce and several other regular sauces.

In the survey, I asked Miners what their favorite chicken place was. Around 50% responded with Chick-fil-A, and there were around 30% that chose Cane’s. Almost zero people voted for Dave’s Hot Chicken, mainly because they had never had it. Dave’s Hot Chicken is very new to Visalia, so it didn’t have a fair chance. However, between Canes and Chick-fil-A, the majority of surveyed students liked Chick-fil-A.
Senior Kaitlyn Padilla says she likes the variety of Chick-fil-A’s menu and the options for sauces. Senior Holden Benevento added that “Chick-fil-A’s chickens aren’t dry like Cane’s, either.”
It is easy to see that Chick-fil-A is a more well-rounded chicken fast-food restaurant and is more popular with El Diamante’s students. There are more votes for the place and it’s been established longer than the other places, too.
