With football season coming to an end, El Diamante hosted “Senior Night” on Friday 13 for all of the graduating seniors on the team. Senior Night is a night where the seniors who are playing on our varsity team get recognized for the hard work they put into the team. Some seniors see it as a time to look back on all the games they played in the past.

Seniors Jeremiah West and Jonathan Aguirre agreed that, “The best memory I have while playing on El Diamante’s Football team is going to have to be last year’s Battle for the Saddle”. They say it was a very good game to look back on because it is the day they took home the Saddle.

Now that we have one more game (the famous Battle for the Saddle) until the season comes to an end we asked a couple of the senior players which game they are looking forward to the most. Mason Ortega states that “The game that I’m the most excited for is Battle for the Saddle because it is one of the last games I’m going to play”.

In closing, all the players tell the JV players to be prepared when joining Varsity and make sure that they prepare beforehand and most importantly don’t take anything for granted and take care of the team when the senior graduates.

As seniors look back on the games they played, most of them said that they enjoyed their time playing for the school. We asked them if they wanted to continue playing football in college or as a career choice. Jeremiah West and Mason Ortega both said that they would love to pursue football after high school if they could.
