On Friday, August 16th El Diamante seniors had Senior Sunrise. They woke up early, got ready for pictures, and showed up to the fields at 5:30 to watch the sunrise. People brought blankets and chairs to watch the sun with all their friends. This event was a great way for the El Diamante class of 2025 to connect and get excited for the year to come.
Many seniors thought that this gathering was fun, and used it as an opportunity to get cute photos with their classmates. Since students were instructed to get there by 5:30, our seniors had to wake up pretty early.
Senior Shelby Gustafson shared, “After sunrise, my friends and I were starving so we went to Dutch Bros and Starbucks to get some breakfast, but as soon as we got back to my friend’s house, we were completely knocked out for two hours until school started”.
Another senior, Joseph Pena, explained that he had to make sure he woke up on time and would not be late. He said, ” I had to set 11 alarms… but I slept through all of them. I almost missed the entire event.”
The senior class was able to buy sunrise shirts, but others got crafty and created their own designs.
Shelby explained that “my friends and I worked together to make a design for our t-shirts that we all loved, and now we have something to remember the special event”.
Along with this, some seniors decided to buy the shirts but got creative in other ways. Senior Anna Sandman explained, “I made senior jeans, which was so much fun to get creative with. I painted on ‘2025’ and added tons of gems”.
This event was the start of Class of 2025’s activities, and the beginning of fun memories. When asked about what seniors were looking forward to, both Shelby and Anna explained that football games were at the top of that list.
Shelby described how she was “looking forward to showing off her school spirit”. Joseph Pena explained that he is “excited for senior year, senior sports, and is ready for the final show”. Overall, Senior Sunrise was a successful event that allowed for El Diamante students to connect and prepare for the rest of the year.
