Girl’s Water Polo, Tennis Reflect Back on Fall Season

As the 2024 fall season sports come to an end, there are strong emotions that follow. For most seniors, this was their last year playing a sport they have spent countless hours practicing on, and that they have dedicated most of their lives to.

Senior varsity girls water polo player Kalindi Carignan shared how she felt about this season coming to an end saying, “[she] was really sad that it ended so soon, but that [she] was glad that it went the way it did regardless of the ups and downs.”

Although the girls’ water polo season may have ended quicker than they liked, they played their best and wouldn’t trade that for anything.

Along with that, senior varsity girls tennis player, Olivia Britter, also expressed that, “[she] feels sad because [she] won’t be able to play as much tennis anymore since there aren’t constant practices every week.” Despite these feelings, in the end, the girl’s tennis team did have a pretty successful run and Olivia expressed that she couldn’t have asked for it to go any other way.

After playing a sport all four years of high school, these players are bound to have some fun memories they will never forget once they leave El Diamante. Carignan shared her favorite memory, “the playoff game vs. Frontier because even though [they] lost, it was a fun bus ride and a great last game.” She couldn’t have asked for a better season and will never forget her senior year playing water polo with all her friends. Britter shared that her favorite memory was, “when the team would get together at the end of practice and all play one big game.” She elaborated that these games were the highlight of practice even though everyone was already tired but that didn’t stop them from still having fun and laughing.

This is a very sentimental and heartfelt time for all seniors in fall sports knowing their season is over once and for all. Being a part of El Diamante’s sports is a community that no athlete would give up. There are nothing but good memories and bonds that hopefully last a lifetime.
