Galentine’s Day is a day that celebrates the friendship between women. Many women believe that nothing can be stronger than a bond between herself and her platonic soul mate. Galentine’s Day isn’t just a day for girls to hang out, but it’s a day dedicated to honoring the bond between women. This day focuses on the love and support that friends offer each other, a day where women come together and appreciate each other’s company.
Unlike many other “holidays”, Galentine’s Day was created by a tv show, later adapted by people spreading the word on social media platforms. On the popular sitcom, “Parks & Recreation” lead character Leslie Knope reveals that Valentine’s Day had turned into a day to celebrate women’s friendship (Season 2, Episode 16). Many women felt that a day meant for women’s friendships to be celebrated should become a reality. It didn’t take long until being invited to become a Galentine was made mainstream.
In comparison to Valentine’s Day, Galentine’s Day doesn’t have set rules or standards regarding how to celebrate it. While some may feel a simple dinner may suffice, others might go all out with a fancy dinner. Here are some ideas that you might feel a calling to celebrate with your friends!
