Breast Cancer Awareness

For an entire month, the world recognizes October as being breast cancer awareness month. It occurs annually with its main aim to spread awareness about the disease and the number of people that it affects. One in every eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. But it is not just them who are affected. An estimated 2,670 men will also be diagnosed with breast cancer. Behind them, families and friends will also be affected. Cancer is the second most likely cause of death in the US, and as a result, it is important that we acknowledge the disease. This month we saw pink out games with our sports teams sporting pink socks and scrunchies in support of the cause. Along with this, we had a pink out football game. Students flooded the stadium in pink gear and showed overwhelming support for the cause. It is important that we show support for the cause in order to support the millions affected every year.
