Ever since SpaceX was founded its goal has been to make space travel cheaper and more accessible to everyone. Now the Starship has been created which is supposed to be able to carry people into space and land back safely on Earth multiple times as airplanes can. Elon Musk even stated, “The critical breakthrough that’s needed for us to become a space-faring civilization is to make space travel like air travel. With air travel, when you fly a plane, you fly it many times.” The company is even ramping up their production of engines to try and get one engine a day and if all goes planned then there could possibly be people flying by next year. In his speech Elon Musk even alluded to a “self-sustaining city on Mars” and that becoming a space-faring civilization makes him glad to be alive.
